New to the X
X-Files Returns with Season 10
Written by Christiane Elin

February 11, 2016 - Cryptids, Aliens, UFOs, The Unexplained, Ghosts, Spirits, Poltergeists, Government Conspiracies and all that encompasses the supernatural has returned to FOX with The X-Files mini-series, season 10.
Even though I am entrenched in the paranormal, I had only watched two episodes of The X-Files over its nine seasons, two feature films, a spin-off series, The Lone Gunmen, and comic books. I’m not quite sure why I was not drawn to the paranormal heavy series but since its announcement to return for a six-episode stint, I thought I would give it a chance.
I was a bit hesitant to watch thinking it would rely heavily on past story lines that have weaved in and out of the series. Shoot even with only watching two episodes, I knew that Mulder was searching for his younger sister who had been abducted by “aliens.”
I’ve watched the four episodes that have aired of the new miniature snack size season. I have to admit I get a bit lost during the parts of the episodes when they bring up past situations like their relationship history, be it the two of them, Mulder and Scully, or their families, and their child that they gave up to hide for his safety. If you ignore the nods to the past a new viewer can watch following the X-Files of the week or monster of the week story. I’m feeling that six episodes will be just an appetizer for the super X-Files fan awaiting a twelve course dinner season. It doesn't seem the short season can answer looming questions of the past. But since I know very little of the history it won't affect a new viewer.
Since the return of X-Files, I’ve decided to begin watching the X-Files series beginning with season one. It has been fun to see many of the actors and character actors that have starred in The X-Files of the week story. To name a few, Ryan Reynolds (Season 3, Episode 13), Shia LeBeouf, Lucy Liu (Season 3, Episode 19), Luke Wilson (Season 5, Episode 12), Jack Black (Season 3, Episode 3), Felicity Huffman (Season 1, Episode 7), Seth Green (Season 1, Episode 2), Jewel Staite ( Season 3, Episode 8), Mark Sheppard (Season 1, Episode 11), and Giovanni Ribisi (Season 3, Episode 3) all came in contact with the FBI Agent duo, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
With season 10 sparking my interest to watch previous seasons of the long loved science fiction series. I wish for one of the mysteries to be solved, why Mulder and Scully have ill-fitting wardrobes. Hopefully this gets resolved as I progress through the seasons.
The X-Files Season 10 airs on Mondays on FOX at 8/7C and is available to watch instantly at Fox.com. The X-Files Seasons 1-9 are available on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and DVD.
